Vertebrate has signed Harrison Ward's Cook Out, a beautifully photographed book of high-quality recipes designed to be prepared on a walk or when camping.

In a deal brokered by Lisa Edwards of Redwood Tree Publishing, the book will be packed with tasty, nutritious recipes that can be cooked using simple camping equipment but are far-removed from basic freeze-dried meals. Dishes will include breakfast bites to enjoy at the campsite before a day of mountain adventure; delicious, varied meals that can be cooked in a single pot but really provide the wow factor; and adventure snacks and sandwiches.

Ward, who appeared on the BBC’s Mary Berry – Love to Cook, said: ‘I’m delighted that Vertebrate is giving me the chance to share my passion for cooking on a campstove in nature. It was a childhood dream to have my own cookbook and I hope it will inspire other foodies to enhance their outdoor adventures.’

Ward, better known as Fell Foodie, lives in Cumbria where he can often be found combining his passion for hillwalking with rustling up delicious food to eat on the way. He regularly features in the media and speaks at various events about his struggles with mental health and alcoholism. He is a brand advocate for Volvo and an Ordnance Survey Champion.

Cook Out is due to publish in autumn 2023.
