Stand-up Paddleboarding in the Lake District by Jo Moseley has won The Zeffirellis Prize for Guides and Places – an accolade bestowed by The Lakeland Book of the Year Awards.
Founded in 1984, the prestigious competition annually celebrates quality writing inspired by the Lake District.
The only paddleboarding manual to exclusively focus on the Lake District, the book offers a beautifully photographed guide to places to paddleboard in the Lakes and along the Cumbrian coastline, brought to life with engaging stories of paddleboarders, the rich history and geography of the Lakes and practical information on launching, transport, eating, exploring, paddling and safety.
Jo came to stand-up paddleboarding aged fifty-one and knew immediately it was something very special. She began paddleboarding while she was recovering from injury and it got her through grief, anxiety and a difficult menopause and empty nesting. In 2019, she became the first woman to paddleboard coast to coast, picking up litter and fundraising for the 2 Minute Foundation and The Wave Project. A film about her journey, Brave Enough – A Journey Hometo Joy has been shown at prestigious adventure festivals.
