Award-winning author and mountaineer Matt Dickinson has released his young-adult adventure trilogy in audiobook format. The series is based on Dickinson’s own expeditions to the mountain; in 1996 he summited Everest via its treacherous North Face, climbing alongside actor Brian Blessed.
The books follow eighteen-year old Ryan Hart, who working on a gap year in Nepal, becomes entangled in a series of thrilling and shocking adventures set amid the world’s highest peak. Blessed said of the series, 'It brings the mountain to life for young readers in a fresh and wonderful way. I urge all lovers of adventure to read it!'
In book one, The Everest Files, Ryan becomes embroiled in a lethal mission to investigate the disappearance of a stricken climber lost on Everest. In the heart-stopping sequel, North Face, Ryan must survive a deadly earthquake and a do-or-die mission to save a friend stuck on Everest’s treacherous North Face; and in the gripping finale, Killer Storm, a violent terrorist attack at Base Camp leaves a route up Everest’s deadly slopes the only means of escape.
The trilogy has already been enjoyed by thousands of young readers and has seen Dickinson make appearances at hundreds of schools – both in the UK and abroad – in a bid to encourage reading and to share the wonders of the outdoor world.
The Everest Files books are the first to be made available in audiobook format by children’s outdoor-adventure book publisher Shrine Bell. Commenting on their release Dickinson said, ‘I am delighted to see that The Everest Filesseries is now available as audiobooks! Listening to a book makes perfect sense for young adventurers and explorers while out on a journey into the rainforest or up a mountain. I'm already meeting pupils at my school visits who have seen that the audiobooks are available and are keen to try them’.
Perfect for ages eleven and above, The Everest Files trilogy makes for a thrilling listen and is available to purchase from Audible, Amazon and iTunes.
